Keep on Keepin On

Welcome to the post-apocalyptic Paleo Zone! If you have completed the Paleo Zone 30 day Challenge, now it is up to you to continue the lifestyle. This blog will now focus on the day-to-day maintenance and trials of living a Paleo lifestyle in the midst of a convenience oriented world.

My posts might be a little irregular (but with a healthy clean diet, that's the only thing!) so sign up on the right to receive email notifications when a new post is written. My goal is to provide a brutally honest account of what it mean to be Paleo and keep at it.

Yesterday was measurement day for Chris and me. I lost 8 lbs, 3 inches, and almost 3% body fat. Chris went of the charts with a 30 lb loss (he was a biggie) and 5% body fat. This is where I'm supposed to be nothing but thrilled for him, but I secretly growled a little when we got our results. The bottom line is, it was just a small sweet taste of what is possible with eating clean.

I chose to celebrate by heading to the black hog for wings and pulled pork. I kept it paleo, just ate more than 2-3 oz of meat! At night, I had 2 glasses of Cabernet, then regretted it. Amanda told me to imagine I was eating an entire bowl of grapes with a couple of glasses, and she may have ruined my love affair with red wine (that's ok, it's a very dysfunctional love affair for me). Today, I had to head to work for 12 hours, so I packed my Rubbermaid containers and hauled in my little cooler, as usual.

Another big step in this journey is that my $40 foundation make-up sits unused. My skin has evened out and cleared up, and with all this water it has a healthy shine. At 43, I will take that over a half inch makeup layer any day.

Keep it up. Spring and summer are coming. There are so many reasons to continue eating clean.

  1. Winning!!

We all win when we eat clean. I was only able to choke down 1/2 of a trojan cheese steak sub from Milo's last night. I quickly followed it with 4 liters of water!

I am back on with the Paleo life style today. I will cook NY strips on the grill, mashed cauliflower, and sweet potatoes tonight for dinner!!!
